Hello!!

I want to send out a quick update.

The Severe Weather Research Paper (Tornado Paper) is well underway. I gave the students one extra day to continue working and finish up the graphic organizer section of the paper. So the graphic organizer is due Thursday the 15th.

The purpose in having the students do this step is to help them actually find information and understand what they are actually going to write a paper on before they begin writing.

The students have a Words Their Way spelling test tomorrow, the 15th. Also, their center folders are due on Tuesday the 20th.

In Social Studies they have been working hard to complete their STEM Great Wall and Zipline group projects.

We will begin studying Ancient Greece on Tuesday.

Remember no school Friday the 16th or Monday the 19th.

As always please contact me with any questions or concerns,

Good evening,

We have been busy this week. The students finished up reading "Night of the Twisters" and are working on their test.  Next week will watch the video and look for the similarities and differences between the book and movie.

In centers the students are working on Words Their Way, Read Theory, and Tic Tac Snow. Tic Tac Snow is anproject where the students need to pick three of the nine offered activities. They are to finish the three and encouraged to do more actives for extra credit. Here is just a few of the activities: watch and critic a movie, interview a family member, read everyday for 20 minutes, read an article and answer comprehension question, come up with an invention idea, perform five acts of kindness and answer journal questions to go with it.

In Social Studies the students are continuing to learn more about ancient China. This week they learned about the ancient Chinese culture, social class, Taoism, Confucianism, and Legalism. Next week we will dive into the Qin and Han dynasties.

I will be introducing the ancient China STEM project next week and putting each of the students into groups to start planning out their project.

Next week is Catholic Schools Week so don't forget to remind your student to participate by dressing in the appropriate attire.

Monday: Western Day :)

As always please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Good afternoon!

We have had a busy and exciting week. This week the students started writing their personal narratives.  We talked and watched a quick video clip on the six components that make a piece of writing a personal narrative. They will continue working on writing their paper through January. Their final work will be on display at the Academic Fair open house on Saturday, January 28th.

The students also wrapped up their Ancient Egyptian unit with a test on Thursday. Please check and sign your child's test and then have them return it back on Monday.  The students began their STEM group activity on Friday. They will continue to work on making pyramids out of toothpicks, clay, and marshmallows Monday and Tuesday.

Do not forget that Monday is the Words their Way (spelling) Test and the packet is due.

Next week will be a short and quick week. I hope that everyone has a wonderful 5 day break celebrating Thanksgiving with family and friends.  (Wednesday-Sunday)

Once we get back we will dive right into Ancient India, continue writing personal narratives, and work on learning more about verbs and adverbs.

Have a great weekend!
